York1 is proposing to develop a comprehensive waste transfer and recycling facility focused on the responsible management of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste from across southern Ontario. The facility will include on-site processing capabilities to recycle C&D wood waste into low-carbon fuel products, as well as sorting and distribution operations for materials such as tar shingles. Although the site features a landfill component, it will exclusively accept C&D waste, explicitly excluding municipal, household, toxic, or odorous waste streams. The landfill will serve solely as a disposal option for C&D waste materials that cannot be recycled or repurposed on-site. Additionally, the facility will provide dedicated infrastructure for soil cleaning and remediation services, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable waste management and environmental stewardship.
